I developed an interest in family history when I took a trip to Scotland a few years back and realized I had no idea where my Scottish ancestors had lived. I was disappointed to realize I had such little information about my roots and determined to rectify that.
After retiring and spending a couple of years researching the family’s past, I was able to return to Scotland and walk the now mostly-abandoned farmsteads where great-grandfathers worked, visit a school my great-grandmother attended, even stay on a farm where several generations of my mom’s family had lived in the western Highlands. The thrill reinforced my curiosity and encouraged me to delve ever deeper. And to share the passion. Hence my website and this blog.
